After-Work Parking Launches in Nuremberg and Erlangen
Supermarket parking lots will be open to residents in the evenings – PRM is providing the technical infrastructure
The "after-hours parking" initiative has launched in two cities in Franconia: In Nuremberg and Erlangen, residents will soon be able to use ALDI SÜD parking spaces in the evenings and at night—spaces that are reserved for supermarket customers during the day.
The idea behind it is simple and effective: especially in densely populated neighborhoods with high parking demand, private parking spaces often go unused outside of store hours. After-hours parking allows for the sensible shared use of existing spaces—without having to pave over any new areas.
The first project was launched in Nuremberg at the ALDI parking lot on Grolandstraße in the Gärten hinter der Veste neighborhood, followed by the location at Henkestraße 92 in Erlangen, where 20 parking spaces were initially made available. Both projects were carried out in collaboration with the respective city and ALDI SÜD.
Payment is processed via license plate recognition, with no barriers or ticket machines. Daily and monthly passes are available online.
PRM GmbH, based in Tennenlohe, is providing the entire technical platform and infrastructure for both projects. Nuremberg and Erlangen are just the beginning: other cities in Bavaria are set to follow shortly.
